Ukraine in the near future will face severe fuel shortages

In May, Ukraine will face a severe shortage of fuel, especially diesel and liquefied gas. The reason for that is simple – the shutdown of the Mozyr Oil Refinery and uncertainty with the supplier of oil products, “Rosneft”. Serhii Kuiun, director of the “A-95” Consulting Group, spoke about this.

According to him, the lack of fuel will also be due to the fact that in 2021 the intense field work shifted to April and May instead of the usual March.

“By May, the reserves of diesel fuel, of which there are supposedly a lot (but no one knows how much) and which will definitely help us to get through April, will run out. And now the market will need to find… 300,000 tons of diesel fuel (almost 50% of the required amount) and at least 40 thousand tons of liquefied gas (25% of the market)”, S. Kuiun points out.

The expert sees a way out of this situation only in cooperation and consultations between the government and traders, who just recently signed a treaty of mutual assistance in the development of the market.
